Asian Pork Rolls

Marinate with honey and soy or spicy plum!

  • ingredients:
  • 500g KR Castlemaine So Tender! Lean Pork stir fry strips
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 cup char-sui sauce
  • 1/4 cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 carrot, peeled and grated
  • 4 spring onions, sliced diagonally
  • 150g water chestnuts, roughly chopped
  • 10 sheets filo pastry
  • 150g butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 1/2 spring roll dipping sauce (light soy, sweet chilli)
  • notes:
  • Pork may also be marinated in honey & soy or spicy plum as a delicious alternative.
  • method:
  • 1. Pre-heat oven 200oC. Combine pork in a medium bowl with sesame oil and char-sui sauce.

    2. Heat oil in a large wok on high heat and stir-fry the vegetables for 3-4 minutes. Remove and cool in a large bowl.

    3. Return the wok to the heat, stir-fry pork in two batches for 2-3 minutes until well browned. Place pork in the bowl with vegetables, mix well.

    4. Lay the filo pastry on a flat surface, brush one sheet with the melted butter then top with another sheet. Repeat until you have 5 sheets. Cut each sheet into 2 large rectangles.

    5. Spoon a little pork mixture into the centre of the pastry, brush the edges with melted butter. Fold in the edges, turn and fold pastry to enclose filling, roll tightly into a cigar shape. Repeat with remaining mixture and pastry.

    6. Place each roll onto a baking tray lined with baking paper, brush with melted butter, sprinkle with black sesame seeds.

    7. Bake rolls in oven for 12-15 minutes until golden and crisp.

    8. Serve hot with spring roll dipping sauce.
